السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
احذروا العقاب الغير محسوس*
Beware of the unseen punishment.
جاء رجل إلى الحسن البصري فقال له :
A man came to Al-Hasan Al-Basri and said to him:
إني سمعت أن لكل معصية عقاب
“I heard that every sin has a punishment,
وإني عصيت الله كثيراً ولم يعاقبني ؟
and I have disobeyed Allah many times, yet He has not punished me?”
فقال له :
So he said to him:
يا بني ، بل كم عاقبك الله وأنت لاتدري
“My son, rather how many times has Allah punished you while you did not realize?”
فقال : كيف ؟
He said: “How?”
قال :
He replied:
ألم يسلبك حلاوة مناجاته ؟
Did He not take away from you the sweetness of intimate supplication to Him?
ألم تمر عليك الأيام دون أن تقرأ القرآن ؟
Did not days pass by without you reciting the Qur’an?
ألم تمر عليك الليالي الطوال وأنت محروم من القيام ؟
Did not long nights pass by while you were deprived of night prayer?
ألم يُمسك لسانك عن ذكره ؟
Did He not restrain your tongue from His remembrance?
ألم يبتليك بحب المال والجاه والشهرة ؟
Did He not test you with the love of wealth, status, and fame?
ألم تشعر بثقل الطاعات على قلبك ؟
Did you not feel the weight of acts of worship on your heart?
ألم تسهل عليك الغيبة والنميمة والكذب ؟
Did backbiting, slander, and lying not become easy for you?
ألم يُنسكَ الآخرة وجعلَ الدنيا أكبر همك ؟
Did He not make you forget the Hereafter and make the worldly life your greatest concern?
ألم تمر عليك مواسم الخير : رمضان ، ست شوال ، عشر ذي الحجة ولم تُوفق إلى استغلالها كما ينبغي ؟
Did not the seasons of goodness pass you by—Ramadan, the six days of Shawwal, the first ten of Dhul-Hijjah—yet you were not granted success to benefit from them as you should?
إن أهون عقاب لله هو ما كان محسوساً سواء كان في المال أو الولد أو الصحة،
Indeed, the lightest punishment from Allah is what is tangible, whether in wealth, children, or health.
وأن أعظم عقاب ما كان غير محسوس في القلب .
But the greatest punishment is that which is intangible, within the heart.
عقاب الله أعظم من أن تدركه بل من عقابه أن يفتح عليك في الدنيا التي تُنسيك الآخرة،
The punishment of Allah is greater than what you can perceive; among His punishments is that He opens for you the world that makes you forget the Hereafter,
ويفتح عليك في العلم الدنيوي الذي يشغلك عن العلم الشرعي أو التفقه في دينك،
and grants you worldly knowledge that distracts you from religious knowledge and understanding your faith,
ويرزقك الكثير من الأموال ولكن يحرمك لذة الطاعات والعبادات.
and provides you with much wealth, but deprives you of the sweetness of worship and devotion.
وهذا وربي من أعظم صور العقاب .
And by Allah, this is one of the greatest forms of punishment.
فكم عاقبك وانت لا تدري!!
So how many times has He punished you while you did not realize!!
احذروا العقاب الغير محسوس*
Beware of the unseen punishment.
ءانسكم الله بقربه
May Allah comfort you with His closeness
